Fayette, PA - Softball hit the road as they took on Penn State Fayette in an epic double header that would lead to the Penn State Beaver dominating the competition winning both games.
In the first game the Beaver Softball team started off intensely. With Beaver scoring two runs in the first inning yet Fayette was not far behind with a run as well. The two runs scored in the second inning were achieved by fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA ) and Fifth year Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA) The two teams would be battling out for the rest of the game as both teams kept a tight defense hold on one another, causing neither team to score in the second inning. As the game continued Beaver was determined to pull ahead even more, scoring a run in the third and fourth inning. Thoses runs were achieved by third year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) in the third and Fifth year Valetina Sandoval (Miami, FL) in the fourth. While also dominating defensively keeping Fayette from scoring any runs. Fayette would be able to score their last run in the sixth inning as they were kept from scoring anymore for the rest of the game. The team would end with Beaver winning 4 - 2.
The second game both teams came in determined. For the first two innings neither team was able to score. It wasn't till the third inning did Beaver start to lock in, scoring four runs putting them in the lead. While Fayette was only able to score one run. Some of these runs were achieved by first year Carly Harbrige (Chocowinty, NC ) and fifth year Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA). Both teams would go on to score none in the fourth inning. Yet Beaver would come back in the fifth inning scoring five runs! Some of which were achieved by first year Haley Cook (Aliquippa, PA), third year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) and first year Cassidy Crean (Wrightsville, PA). While Fayette only managed to score two. The teams would go on to score no runs in the last two innings. Making the final score 9 - 3, Beaver taking the win!
Beaver is set to play again Wednesday April 24th at 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. They will be playing at home in the Beaver field house against Carlow. Come out and support or catch it all on the rise and roar network!
