Beaver Dominates Game Day

Monaca PA- The Penn State Beaver Softball team took on Franciscan in a double header. The team played at the Beaver field house in an epic game that would lead to a clean sweep for Beaver. After a great day the team is now on a 3 game winning streak. 

Starting off the first game strong on the mound was third year Gabbey Flint (Fayetteville, TN). Within the first three innings Beaver played a great defensive game keeping Franscican from scoring any runs. They also were able to turn around and play a great offensive game as well. The team scored one run in the first inning thanks to fifth year Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL). Within the second inning the team scored another four runs some of which were achieved by first year Hayler Cook (Aliquippa, PA), fifth year Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA) and third year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA). Within the third inning another run was scored by fourth year Kylie Magnotta. Putting the total score by the end of the third inning at 6 - 0 Beaver in the lead. Going into the fourth inning Fransiscan was able to score 3 runs. Within the fifth inning Beaver first year Bailey Vavricek (North Las Vegas, NV) came in as pitcher. Along with that the team scored an additional 3 runs. From there the teams stayed at a stalemate as both teams did not score a run for both the sixth and seventh inning. Ending the first game with a score of 9 - 3 Beaver for the win. 

Within the second game Beaver starts off fierce. With pitcher third year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) starting off on the mound. From the jump Beaver took off scoring 10 runs within the first inning. Setting themselves up for a strong game . From there they kept the momentum up scoring another 6 runs by the end of the second inning. Making the overall score going into the third inning 16- 0 with Beaver in the lead Within the third inning Fransican was able to get 2 runs, yet Beaver Softball came back scoring one run in the fourth inning along with playing great defense causing Franciscan not to score at all within the fourth inning. By the fifth inning Fraciscan was able to get one more run before the game ended. The game ended with a final score of 17 - 3 with Beaver for the win.
