Monaca - Penn State Beaver Softball team took on Miami- Hilton in a double header at the Penn State Beaver Field House. The team after coming off of two wins the day before takes on Miami-Hilton in
Within the first game the Beaver Softball team starts off solid. With both teams not scoring in the first inning. Within the second inning Miami- Hilton scored two runs. Beaver returns with both first year Haley Cook (Aliquippa, PA) and fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) both scoring a run to put the score at 2-2. From there Beaver took off scoring another 5 runs within the fourth inning. The game took a turn in the fifth inning once Miami Hilton scored 9 runs, while Beavers own fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) and first year Cassidy crean (Wrightsville, PA) were both able to score two runs for the team as well. Putting the score by the end of the fifth inning at 11- 9 with Miami Hilton taking the lead. Beaver fought hard, scoring with third year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh PA) scoring the team's final run. Putting the final game score at 11- 10 with Miami Hilton taking the win.
The second game Beaver softball came in determined. They started off the game with two runs by fifth year Valetina Sandoval (Miami, FL) and third year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) setting the tone for a strong game. From there the team kept the momentum, scoring three more runs in the second inning and another three runs in the third inning. While the opposing team scored one run within the third inning. Beaver softball was playing with a fierceness within this second game. Although they did see some push back in the fourth inning Miami- Hilton was able to score four runs. Yet this didn't stop Beaver as first year Haley Cook ( Aliquippa, PA), fifth year Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA) and fifth year Valentina Sandoval ( Miami, Fl) all scored a run within the fifth inning. The team scored its final run in the sixth inning thanks to fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA). After the seventh inning the final score of the game was 6- 12, Penn State Beaver for the win.
