Myrtle Beach NC - Penn State Beaver Women's Softball team kicks off their first game down in Myrtle Beach. They played their first game of many in the week-long tournament. In their first-day match, Beaver went head-to-head against Northern Vermont- Lyndon. As well as playing their second game against NC Wesleyan. They went 1-1 today starting the day off with a win.
In their game against Northern Vermont-Lyndon, Beaver started strong for their first game of the season. The first inning started slow, started 0-0 after the first inning. Starting the second inning, Beaver scored their first run of the year. All through the fourth inning, the game stayed steady with the score being 1-0. Beaver's fielding was good throughout the first 4 innings. Northern Vermont-Lyndon started to make a slight comeback late in the 7th inning, but Beaver came through and won 5-3 for their first game of the year.
In their second game against NC Wesleyan, Beaver had a tough game. Beaver played well in the first five innings. Things got a little out of hand, towards the last innings. Beaver had some tough competition for the second game and lost 12-0. Some players still performed well despite the tough loss. First-year, Kierstyn Mays (Sterling, IL) finished with one hit. Beaver still had a god first day of games and will continue playing the rest of the week.
As for the first game, Beaver dominated for the majority of their game today. One of the key players from today's game is Second year, Selene Lopez (Simi Valley, CA) finished with 2 runs, 3 walks, and 1 triple. Fifth year, Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL) finished with 1 RBI. Also, Fifth year, Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA) finished with 1 run and 1 RBI.
