Halzeton, PA - After battling weather softball was finally able to travel across the state to take on another PSAUC Competitor. The Lady Lions took on Penn State Halzeton in the first cross-over match up of the weekend. After splitting with Halzton they finally snapped their 7 game losing streak. The Lions battled hard losing a close game in thefirst 4-3 and the second leading it to a 5-1 victory.
On the mound for Beaver was Freshman, Leeanna West (Milford, NY) who faced 29 batters and only gave up 8 hits. Freshman, Selene Lopez (Simi Valley, CA) and Senior, Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL) each had 2 hits this game. Sandoval and Senior, Chloe Coleman (Moon, PA) each had an RBI this game as well. Junior, Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) had a double this game and Coleman had a triple helping the team get into scoring position. 6 players for Beaver had stolen bases this game though it was not enough to outscore Halzeton after the 6th inning.
For the second game, Beaver came back with a fire in their souls looking for that win. On the mound this game was Sophomore, Bre Thomas (Ambridge, PA) who gave up 8 hits and only 1 run for the day after facing 29 batters. Coleman was a major player in this game as well having 3 hits in 4 at bats with 1 RBI and scoring 1 run. Coleman also had an impressive 3 stolen bases this second game. Sophomores, Kelsey Stoner (Beaver Falls, PA) and Victoria Farrell (Allentown, PA) each had and RBI this game going 1 for 3. Sandoval was the other player to have an RBI this game helping her team score enough to earn the victory. The team had 8 hits, 2 walks, 4 RBIs, and scored 5 runs.
