Monaca, PA - The Lady Lions took on a USCAA competitor today in a double header. The Harriers of Miami - Hamilton bested the Lady Lions today in both games finishing with scored of 6-5 and 8-1 in the respective games. After many hard fought innings the Lions were unable to keep their luck going and dropped both games. The Lions had 12 hits for the day and scored a total of 7 runs.
In the first game, Junior, Desiree Aponte pitched all 7 innings, giving up 7 hits, 5 earned runs, and had 2 strikeouts. Junior, Chloe Coleman leadoff for Beaver going 2 for 4 with a double and scored 2 runs for the Lions. Freshman, Kelsey Stoner went 1 for 2 this game with a double and 1 RBI. Three more players for Beaver also had RBI's, Sophomore, Kylie Magotta had 2, Senior, Skylar Duffee, and Junior, Cassadie Speed both brought in 1 a piece. The Lions had a hard fight up until the end scoring in the first, fourth, and fifth inning, while the Harriers only scored in the fifth and seventh innings.
For the second game, Freshman, Kiana Stamper started in the circle throwing 3 innings, while Freshman, Gabbey Flynt came into the game in relief and pitched the final 4 innings. Junior, Desiree Aponte went 2 for 3 this game bringing in the only RBI for the game, which was also Beavers only run this game. Sophomore, Kylie Magnotta hit the teams only double for this game, which left her with a 1 for 2 game from the plate. Senior, Skylar Duffee was the only player to score this game after getting on base from a walk.
The team has a had fight ahead of them since they are scheduled to play 8 more games before the 29th. The Lady Lions will continue to battle though to keep their hopes of playoffs alive. Their next game will be on Saturday, April 23rd at 3pm and 5pm when they take on Penn State Greater Allegheny. This game the Lady Lions will take on the role of the away team but the game will be played on Beaver's Field. Make sure to come out and support or catch all of the action on the Rise and Roar Network. After Saturdays game, they will take the field again on Sunday, April 24th which will be Senior Night.
