Du Bois, PA -- Lady Lions Fall to Fayette
By: Chris Rotondo
The Beaver Lady Lions traveled to Du Bois Wednesday afternoon for a first place tie-breaker against Penn State Fayette. Beaver fell to Fayette 2-1 in their final regular season game.
The game had a slow, but intense start with no runs from either team in the first 4 innings. Fayette struggled in hitting fast pitches from Vanessa Jackson throughout much of the game.
At the top of the first, Beaver went on the board with a run. Jess Hughes singled, putting her on first base, but she would later make a run as Brittany Zahn hit a double with an RBI. That would be Beaver's only run of the game, as Fayette made 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Failing to make any additional runs in the seventh, Beaver fell 2-1.
The team is now 22-13 overall and 15-5 in their conference games. They will head into the playoffs Friday evening, as they return home to take on Penn State Greater Allegheny.
