The Beaver Lady Lions faced off against Penn State Du Bois at home Sunday afternoon in another double header, following Saturday's wins against Du Bois. Beaver once again proved victorious, going 2-0 for the day.
Beaver started game 1 with an early 8 run sweep in the first. Brenna Cepull doubled with an RBI, with Vanessa Jackson running home. Then, Brittany Zahn tripled with 2 RBIs, as Cepull and Kayla Campbell each ran home. Jackson and Dina Cable each singled with an RBI, while Tara McFadden doubled with 2 RBIs, as Brittany Garza and Torey Cassidy each made runs.
Beaver made an additional 2 runs in the second, with Cable singling with an RBI. The third went scoreless, but Beaver made 4 additional runs in the fourth. Katie Valiga singled with an RBI, later running home following a Jess Hughes single RBI. Natalie Larkin made the last run of the game, as Cepull made a single RBI. Beaver won after 5 innings by a score of 14-0.
Game 2 showed Beaver sweeping Du Bois in only 4 innings, starting with 5 runs in the first. Zahn and Cable each singled with an RBI each, while Garza doubled with an RBI. Beaver made 3 additional runs in the second, with Zahn and Carley Schroeder each reaching on a fielder's choice. The team also made 3 runs in the third, with Campbell singling with an RBI, later making a run. Cepull also grounded out to second base, gaining an RBI.
In the bottom of the fourth, Beaver made 4 more runs, as Jackson doubled with 3 RBIs, as Valiga, Garza and Schroeder each ran home. Jackson made the final run of the game, giving Beaver a 15-0 win.
The team is now 20-12 overall and 13-5 in their conference matches. They will face off against Penn State New Kensington Monday afternoon in a conference double header.
