Monaca, PA -- Lady Lions Split Against Mont Alto

The Beaver Lady Lions returned home Wednesday afternoon for a double header against Penn State Mont Alto, the last of 4 recent games against the team. Similar to Tuesday's double header, the games showed mixed results, with Beaver going 1-1.
The first game started with Mont Alto making a first inning mark on the board with an early 1-0 lead. From there, the game went at a steady pace, with a scoreless second and third. At the bottom of the fourth, Beaver tied the game at 1, after Jess Hughes singled with an RBI, with Vanessa Jackson running home. Beaver made an additional run at the bottom of the fifth, as Kayla Campbell singled, with an RBI following a run home from Tara McFadden. That run finalized the game, with Beaver winning 2-1.
Game 2 also had a steady start, with Mont Alto making the first run at the top of the second. It wasn't until the bottom of the third when Beaver tied the game at 1. Carley Schroeder made the run as Hughes singled with an RBI. Beaver made an additional run at the bottom of the fourth, with Natalie Larkin singling with an RBI.
Beaver's 2-1 lead remained until top of the seventh, when Mont Alto made 3 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, Beaver tied the game again at 4, making 2 runs. Brittany Zahn was able to steal second, and would later make an unearned run following Brenna Cepull's singled RBI.
The tie pushed the game to an eighth inning, where Mont Alto struck back with 4 runs. Beaver was not able to make any runs at the bottom of the eighth, giving Mont Alto an 8-4 victory.
Beaver is now 11-11 overall and 4-4 in their conference matches. They will return home on Friday for a double header against Penn State Greater Allegheny.
