Beaver Loses Close Game to Judson
Beaver -1, Judson - 2
Akron, Ohio -- Beaver falls to Judson College (AL) by one run in a very tight game.
After playing in the late game last night, Beaver had a quick turn around as they played in the opening game of the day. Both teams opened the game playing solid defense for the first two innings, each just giving up 1 hit to that point.
Judson opened the third inning with a lead off double and would eventually score that runner on an RBI double to take the first lead in the game. Beaver was quick to answer, as Brittany Zahn (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton) led off with a double of her own. Vanessa Jacskon (Snohomish, WA / Snohomish), with two outs, hit a clutch single to right side to score Zahn and even the score at 1-1.
Seeming to find some momentum from their at bat, Beaver was able to hold Judson scoreless with agressive pitching from Jackson and solid defense through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. In the top of the seventh inning, Judson used their agressive base running to get a runner into scoring position and then scored on an RBI single to regain the lead. The Lady Lions, who were hitless after the third inning weren't able to generate any offense and fell by a final score of 2-1.
Leading the offense were Lacey Weible (Hookstown, PA / South Side), Jackson and Zahn who each tallied a hit in the game.
Beaver now prepares to play in the 7th place game at 4:00 p.m. against the loser of UC Clermont and SUNY Canton which is being played at 12:00 p.m.
