Beaver Drops Two at Home Against New Kensington
The Penn State Beaver softball team took on Penn State New Kensington at home, losing both games of a doubleheader to move to 9-3 in conference play.

Penn State Beaver

Monaca, Pa -- The Penn State Beaver softball team hosted the women of Penn State New Kensington for a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Beaver comes into this game swinging hot bats, having overcame a 7 run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to win against Butler Coutny Community College in their last game.
In game one of the day, Beaver struggled to get their bats going from the start. For the first 4 innings neither side was able to score a run. in the top of the fifth inning it was New Kensington that would finally break the scoreless tie, plating 2 runs on 2 hits. Beaver was unable to answer back, and in the top of the seventh New Kensington topped of their score by adding 3 more runs. In the end, Beaver would lose this game by a final score of 5-0.
In game two of the day, Beaver's bats would finally come to life against New Kensignton. In the top of the first inning it was New Kensington that would score the games first runs, as they scored 3 right off the bat. Beaver would answer back in the bottom of the third, scoring 1 run to push the score to 5-1. As the game went on Beaver would be able to get on base but they struggled to string together any big hits to get close to taking back the lead. In the end, it would be New Kensington that would take home a 10-5 win against Beaver.
After losing both games to New Kensington today, Beaver now sits at 11-12 overall with a 9-3 conference record. Beaver was led today by the performance of Sophomore Brenna Cepull (Monaca, Pa/Central Valley), who went 3-3 in the second game with an RBI. Beaver will play next at New Kensington on Friday, April 14, with the first game starting at 2 p.m.
