On Penn State Beaver's senior day, they hosted Penn State Brandywine for what looked to be a great conference matchup heading into the game. Beaver comes into this one on an eight game win-streak, with only one loss in conference play.
The first game of the doubleheader started at noon, and from the start both teams knew that they were in for a tough battle. Brandywine was the first team to strike, as they were able to rally in the third inning for two runs. Beaver's bats were quiet for most of the game, but in the sixth inning they were able to inch closer to tying the game up as Brenna Cepull (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) was able to score a run. However, it didn't matter much as Brandywine shut Beaver right back down and held on to win by a score of 2-1.
The second game of the day started at 2 p.m. and the struggles continued for Beaver at the plate. As Brandywine's bats came alive throughout the whole game, Beaver could only manage to get four hits in this one. Senior Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA / Burgettstown) was one of the few Beaver players to have a good day at the plate in this second game, as she went 1-3 while scoring one of two runs in the game as well. When it was all said and done Beaver ended up dropping both games on the day, this one by a score of 10-2.
This was Penn State Beaver's senior day, where they honored their only senior, catcher Rachael Charlier. The girls wanted to win badly for one of their friends and their leader's last home game but sadly fell short. This was the last home game for Beaver, as they will play next at Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday, April 19. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
