State College, PA--- Penn State Beaver played in the PSUAC tournament today looking to advance further into the tournament. Penn State Beaver played Penn State Hazleton in the first game.
In the first game against Penn State Beaver Rachel Borrell (Downingtown, PA/Dowingtown East) had Beaver's only hit and run. Borrell scored in the first inning looking to give Beaver a boost.
Hazleton would answer back with six runs of its own in the first inning to match Beaver's energy.
Beaver would give up six more runs in the fourth inning to lose in five innings. Beaver lostt 12-1.
In the second game Beaver played Penn State Mont Alto. Mont Alto scored the first run to put Beaver on its heels. Beaver would answer back with runs of its own.
In the third inning Beaver scored three runs to take the lead. Haley Paul (Rochester, PA/Rochester) doubled sending Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Lincoln) and Amanda Habedank (Nevile Island, PA/Cornell) home. Beaver didnt stop the runs. Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA/Burgettstown) singled sending Paul home to make the score 3-1. Beaver now had the momentum.
Mont Alto would answer with a run of its own. The score was now 3-2.
With Beaver still winning, Mont Alto stole the momentum and scored three runs in the fourth inning.
Beaver's Stephanie Waxler singled sending Charlier home for the come back. Beaver was down 5-4.
Mont Alto would score again.
In the seventh inning Beaver gave it everything they had. Beaver scored three runs to take the lead. Borrell doubled sending Habedank home. Borders singled sending Borrell home, also Mason DePetro (Coraopolis, PA/Cornell) singled sending Borders home. Beaver now was up and looking to get the win.
Beaver gave up two runs to fall short in this exciting game 8-7.
Paul led the team with 2 RBI's.
Beaver finished the season with a overall record of 6-18 and 6-12 in the conference. Beaver improved over the season and is returning a lot of players.
This is senior Borrell last season. Borell was the pitcher for Beaver all year.
