Monaca, PA-- On a breezy afternoon Penn State Beaver hosted Penn State Greater Allegheny looking to improve its record.
The first game Beaver came out strong. Being down 1-0 after the first inning, Beaver found the opportunity to take the lead with scoring three runs in the 2nd inning.
Haley Paul (Rochester, PA/Rochester) would score for Beaver, Sunni Liggette(Avella, PA/Avella) earned two RBI's sending Mason Depetro (Coraopolis, PA/ Cornell), and Stephanie Waxler(Rochester,PA/Rochester) home.
After the 2nd inning Beaver led 3-1.
Beaver kept Greater Allegheny on its heels the rest of the game.
Beaver went on to score eight runs in the 3rd inning. After the 3rd inning Beaver was leading 11-3.
Beaver went on to score 5 more runs to end the game in five innings. Beaver won 16-3.
Liggette and Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Lincoln) led the team with 4 RBI's. Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA/Burgettstown) went 4-4 at the plate scoring two of Beavers runs. Liggette also went 3-3 from the plate scoring two runs for Beaver.
In the second game it was an exciting one.
Greater Allegheny started off the 1st inning scoring two runs. Beaver would answer back with four runs of its own.
Charlier, Borders, Depetro and Paul all scored in the first inning to take the lead 4-2.
Greater Allegheny would answer back with three runs of its own.
Beaver would not stop the effort and determination, Charlier, Rachel Borrell (Dowingtown, PA/Dowingtown) and Borders scored to make the game 7-5.
With the game going back and fourth the pace of the game kept fans on the edge of their seats with the scoring abilities from both teams.
In the 5th inning Greater Allegheny scored four runs bringing the game closer and holding Beaver scoreless in that inning.
After the 5th inning the score was 14-11.
Greater Allegheny would score four more runs but still fell short 16-15.
Borders led the team with 4 RBI's this game.
Beaver's next game is April 25th where they will host Penn State Mont Alto at 2 p.m.
