Beaver wins big over CCBC
Four home runs helped the Lady Lions pick up two wins against the Lady Titans
In game two of the double header, CCBC started off the game hitting and quickly scored two runs in the top of the inning, but Beaver continued to hit extremely well and in the bottom of the first answered quickly. A lead off walk by Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) allowed Rachel Borrell (Downingtown, PA/DOwningtown Wast) to bunt her over to second while earning the hit herself. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and with a runner in scoring position, Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) singled to earn the RBI. The next batter, Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) then hit her second home run on the day followed immediately by a Sydeny Brinton (Pittsburgh, PA/Brashear) home run. In a four hit inning the Lady Lions scored 5 runs and then played stellar defense and never looked back.
In the second inning the Lady Lions continued to hit well and were able to produce three more runs on a hit by Miranda Robson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) and a Lauren Pier home run, her third of the year. The third inning looked much the same as Beaver was nearly perfect in the field and kept CCBC scoreless, then proceeded to to tack on three more runs to put the score at 10-2. In the top of the fifth inning, the Titans of CCBC stood no chance as Freyermuth was on the mound to close out the game. She delivered two stike outs and was able to get the third batter of the inning to line out to third baseman Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA/Burgettstown) to end the game.
Leading the offense in this game was Lauren Pier who went 2 for 2 with a home run, as well as Korey Freyermuth and Sydney Brinton who also homered in the game. Pier and Freyermuth are now tied at 3 to lead the team in home runs followed by Brinton who has 2 on the season.
Freyermuth was tough on the mound in this game as well as she only gave up 1 hit and struck out three in 5 innings.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Thursday at home when they face Thiel College at 3:30PM.
