Greenville, PA- The Women's Softball Team of Penn State Beaver (5-15, 0-0 PSUAC) went on the road this afternoon to take on the Tomcats of Thiel College.
In game one, despite good defense from Beaver, the Tomcats took the game 5-0. Korey Freyermuth (Perry/Pittsburgh, PA) pitched six innings, giving up several hits, five runs, and struckout two batters. Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley/Cranberry Township, PA) lead the team in offense, recording the only hit for Beaver.
In game two, the Tomcats carried their momentum taking the game 8-0, despite a great effort from the Lady Lions. Freyermuth pitched four innings, giving up nine hits, eight runs, and struckout one person. Sophomore Lauren Pier (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) lead the team in offense with two hits.
The Lady Lions go on the road again Sunday, April 1, 2012 for their first PSUAC Conference game at 2 p.m against the Wildcats of Penn College (Williamsport, PA).
