Lady Lions lose last game of spring trip to Myrtle Beach
Beaver Falls to Sauk Valley 7-5.

Myrtle Beach, SC - In their last game of the Fast Pitch Dreams Tournament, the Lady Lions lose to Sauk Valley, despite a big win yesterday.
Beaver came out strong in the first inning, clearly picking up where they left off yesterday afternoon against the Seahawks. To open the game freshman Nicole Bowersox (Penn Valley/Penns Valley, PA) hit a big double. She was followed in the batting order by sophomore Lauren Pier (New Brighton, New Brighton, PA) who was hit by a pitch, advancing the runners. Next up, junior Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley/Cranberry Township, PA) singled scoring Bowersox. Senior Lindsey Scialdone (Ellwood City/Ellwood City, PA), in the clean-up spot, advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. With runners on second and third, junior Korey Freyermuth bunted to score Pier. Sophomore Myranda Raymond (Brashear/Pittburgh, PA) kept the inning going with a single to score Watkins and then senior Jamie Karpinski (Quigley Catholic/Beaver, PA) came up to the plate and hit a huge double to score Raymond. Before the inning was over Sauk Valley was forced to pull their starting pitcher. After the line-up change, Beaver was finally issued their third out but not before scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. Sauk Valley answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Lions continued to score in the second inning when Bowerox scored on a bad throw by the Seahawks after being walked and advancing on a hit by Pier. As Beaver went into the bottom of the inning they were up 5-2. Despite the lead, Sauk Valley made a big comeback with 5 hits and 5 runs on 2 errors in the field by the Lady Lions.
With the score 7-5 in favor of Sauk going into the third inning, the game because a defensive battle. Sauk was able to get 2 hits in the third, Beaver answered with a hit in the fourth and Sauk had one more hit in the 6th, but no more runs were scored. The game came to a close as the last three batters for Penn State weren't able to produce any offense.
Taking the loss on the mound today was Freyermuth who pitched six innings giving up 10 hits and 3 earned runs. Offensively Beaver was lead by Bowersox who went 2 for 3 and Watkins, Raymond and Karpinski who all went 1 for 3 with an RBI a piece.
The Lady Lions wrap up their spring trip 1-6. They play again Saturday, March 17 at St. Vincent College.
