Beaver Falls, PA- The Penn State Beaver Soccer team defeated Carlow University 4-1 on Tuesday.
Beaver scored early and often in this one. Junior Jake Ross (Munhall, PA/Steel Valley) scored two unassisted goals in the first 11 minutes to build and early 2-0 lead for the Lions. This lead would hold through half time as Beaver led at half 2-0. In the second half, at the 56 minute mark, Junior Misa Garcia (Los Angeles, CA/ Alexander Hamilton ) found the back of the net, taking a pass from Sophomore Frederick Riedell (Pasadena,CA Loyola of Los Angeles) who earned the assist. Beaver went up 4-0 at the 69 minute mark, when Garcia found Freshman Nadeen Shakshir (Jerusalem/ Friends of Palestine) who found the back of the net. Carlow scored their lone goal with 10 minutes left in the game. This proved to be too little, too late; as Beaver went on to win 4-1.
In the win, Freshman Goal Keeper Alex Hart (Douglas, PA/Daniel Boone) earned his second collegiate win, holding Carlow scoreless in 78 minutes, recording 9 saves. Hart has not givin up a goal in his last 3 halves. Offensively, Ross led in points with 2 goals (4 Points), with Garcia right behind with a goal and an assist (3).
The Lions now sit at 2-1 overall. They will return to action on Wednesday, Sepetember 15th, when they open their PSUAC schedule. They will take on PSU Mont Alto at 2 p.m. If you cannot make it live, the game will be broadcasted on the Rise and Roar Network.
