New Brighton, PA -- Men's Soccer wins 4-1 in first conference match.
Coming off of a pair of losses, the Lions began their PSUAC conference with a bang, defeating Penn State Schuylkill. The match did not start in Beaver's favor, as the team received five fouls in the first half, including two in the half's opening minutes. Logan Ridgley attempted a penalty kick 17 minutes into the match, but was unsuccessful. Schuylkill made their first and only goal 27 minutes into the match.
Beaver came back to dominate the match in the second half, however, with four total goals against Schuylkill. Noah Zajicek gave Beaver their first goal a minute into the second half, with an assist by Logan Ridgley. Alex Rectenwald scored two goals for Beaver within 10 minutes of each other. Rectenwald's second goal was assisted by Zachary Petey, who would go on to score the final goal of the match, leading Beaver to a 4-1 win.
Samuel Sharpless served as Beaver's goalie for the majority of the match, with 9 shots on goal. William Derry replaced Sharpless halfway through the second half, earning 2 shots on goal. Beaver now sits at 6-4 for the season. They will be on the road tomorrow when they face off against Alfred St. at 3:00 p.m.
