Rochester, Pa -- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team hosted Penn State Worthington Scranton for a conference matchup late in the season. This is a big game for Beaver as it is their last home game of the season. Before the start of the game the team honored their senior captain, Jonathan Pogozelec. The team also badly needs to win out in conference play as they are in a tight race for first place in the PSUAC, making this game all the more important for Beaver.
The game started off with Beaver immediately taking command. The men looked very sharp as they had no troubles moving the ball at all. The team generated a lot of chances in the game and they took a nice lead early in this one. Worthington Scranton looked like a very good team in this game as well, but lacked the depth of Beaver and as the game went on Beaver's speed and stamina really earned them the win in this one by a score of 4-0.
Beaver played a great game against Worthington Scranton as the team moved the ball well and generated a lot of good scoring chances throughout the entire match. The team played well from top to bottom, but the standout of the day was Sophomore John Valiga, who scored 2 goals in the winning effort. The men now sit at 9-6 overall, with a 7-1 conference record. The team will take the field next on Monday, October 17 as the team travels to Point Park University for a non-conference matchup. Game time is set for 5 pm.
