Hiram, Oh -- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team took to the road on Tuesday night, traveling to Hiram, Ohio to take on Hiram College in a non-conference match. The men have been playing very well as of late and would like to get a win another big win, this time on the road.
This game started off with Hiram taking control of the game very early. In the 15th minute Hiram finally took the lead as Beaver's defense seemed to be overwhelmed by a good Hiram offensive attack. Almost five minutes later, Beaver let up another goal to Hiram as they still had not figured out how to stop Hiram and their offensive attack. The second half was an improvement for Beaver as they let up only one goal, but still couldn't get anyhting going offensively for themselves as they ended up falling in disappointing fashion to Hiram by a score of 3-0.
The Beaver team now sits at 5-5 overall, with a 4-1 in conference record. The team was overwhelmed by the Hiram offense in this one as they only managed 11 shots during the game compared to Hiram's 27. Beaver's goalie, Sam Sharpless, held his ground in this one tallying 8 saves while keeping the game close for Beaver. The men will be in action again on Thursday, October 6 at home against Westmoreland CCC. Game time is set for 2 pm.
