State College, PA - On Sunday afternoon, Beaver traveled to State College to take on Penn State Beaver Allegheny in the PSUAC Championship game.
Beaver earned the title of the 2015 PSUAC Champions Sunday after defeating Greater Allegheny 2-1. Beaver were up on Greater Allegheny the entire game, hopeful for win the entire 90 minutes of play.
In the first half, each team was scoreless, through the full 45 minutes. Five minutes into the second half, freshman Julius Illiano (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) scored the first goal of the game for Beaver on a free kick. The game remained a defensive battle for the next 30 minutes until Greater Allegheny tied the game at 1-1.
Both teams, battling for the conference title with less than 10 minutes to play, it was Beaver's Anthony Voss (Pittsburgh, PA/ Chartiers Valley) who scored the game winning goal for Beaver in the 82nd minute. Greater Allegheny tried to get back into the game a few minutes later but were unsuccessful after Rashitha Perera (Irvine, CA/ Northwood High School) made a fantastic save.
With the 2-1 victory, Beaver earns the title of 2015 PSUAC Champions. They will travel to Asheville, North Carolina for the USCAA Men's Soccer National Championship First Round Game where they will face NHTI at 2 p.m.
