Beaver ends Brandywine's 14th consecutive win streak!

Media, PA - The men's soccer team traveled to Penn State Brandywine Saturday afternoon coming out with a 4-2 win to end Brandywine's consecutive win streak!

To open the match senior forward Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/ Perry) scored an unassisted goal within the first 15 minutes (14:17) of the first half. A few minutes later (17:42) Brandywine answered back by an unassisted goal by a misplayed ball by Beaver. Brandywine kept it going with another goal in the 24th minute (24:37) chipping it into the goal. For the rest of the half each team was silent ending the first 1-2 to Brandywine.

The second half followed the first until 30 minutes (54:58) into it Smith welcomed the half with another blazing goal that was assisted by freshman midfielder Julius Illiano (Harrisburgh, PA/ Central Dauphin). About 10 minutes (65:53) following Smith's goal, freshman Alex Rectenwald (Pittsburgh,PA/ Chartiers Valley) had his turn at scoring with a hard header rebounded off of Smith's shot. With not much time left Smith put the final touches on the game on and scored an unassisted goal making it that he had a hat trick for the match.

Smith was the leader with 7 shots and 3 shots on goal. Followed by Rectenwald with 3 shots and 1 shot on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Rashitha Perera (Irvine, CA/ Northwood High School) had 10 shots on goal against him saving 8 of thos shots and only conceiding 2 of those shots.

Beaver now sit 1-1 in the PSUAC and 1-3 overall. Their next game they travel to Penn State Hazelton Sunday, September 20, to keep the win streak going! Game time is at 1 p.m.
