Unionville, PA - Beaver drops a game against Point Park University giving them 2 goals to 1.
Monday afternoon, the men's soccer team stayed home to take on the men of Point Park. The teams played a full 90 minutes with constant, exciting play.
The first half consisted of all the goals to be scored in the game. Kicking off the goals was Point Park with 2 goals with in the first 20 minutes. However, Beaver answered back when senior Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh,PA/ Perry) scored in the 20th minute, assisted by freshman Julius Illiano (Harrisburgh, PA/ Central Dauphin).
The second half didn't see any goals nor a lot of action. It consisted of 1 foul from Beaver along with a total of 5 shots. As well as, 9 saves and 1 corner kick. Beaver set up a good defense in the second half not letting Point Park get past them.
Despite the loss, freshman Rashitha Perera (Irvine, CA/ Northwood High School) saved 13 out of the the 15 shots on goal. Smith and senior Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA/ Penn Hills) lead the team in shots the whole game. Followed by Ryan Christy (Burgettstown, PA/ Burgettstown) with 2 shots. Wright also had 3 shots on goal out of 4 shots.
Beaver's next game is Saturday, September 19, when they travel to Penn State Brandywine took take them on at 5 p.m.
