Rochester, PA- Penn State Beaver men's soccer wins against Penn State Worthington Scranton in double overtime.
At the start of the match up both teams played with great defenses, each goalie stopping any shots sent to the net. Beaver's goalie Matt Fetch (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) was able to stop 6 of Scranton's 7 shots. The first goal didn't come until Scranton scored at the 30:47 mark. Beaver's Yousef Salhi (Doha, Qatar/ International School of Choueifat) answered the goal at the 44:37 mark to tie up the score at the end of the first.
In the second Beaver took 13 shots, none of which could make it into the net. Beaver's defense was phenomenal in this half only allowing Scranton two shots. Neither team could score pushing the match into the first overtime, where neither team could score the golden goal.
When the second overtime finally came, each team began to tire and barely shot the ball. Beaver shot at the net four times, one of which resulted in a goal by Pedro Faria (Luanda Angola/Luanda Portuguese School). The final score was 2-1, Beaver.
Beaver faces Penn State Greater Allegheny on October 2nd at 4 p.m.
