September 2, 2011
Pittsburgh, PA - The Men's Soccer Team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Redhawks of LaRoche College (Pittsburgh, PA) on Friday afternoon.
Despite missing USCAA All-American Tyler Blake (Moon/Crescent, PA) due to injury, the Penn State Beave Men's Soccer Team hung tough early against a deep Redhawk squad, in the hot and humid Pittsburgh heat.
Beaver found themselves on the short end of the scoreboard, as LaRoche tallied their first marker 6 minutes into the game. LaRoche added to their lead with another goal at the 13 minute mark, taking a two goal lead to the half.
Unfortunately, LaRoche added three more goals to hand Beaver (0-1, 0-0 PSUAC) its first defeat of the year.
Keeper Dwayne Thomas (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) had three goals against and three saves in his debut as keeper for Penn State Beaver.
Beaver tallied just four shots on goal, three by sophomore Desmond Amberetu (Bowie/Bowie, MD) although none found the back of the net.
Beaver will next play on the road at Thiel College (Greenville, PA) on Thursday, September 8th at 5PM.
