Beaver Soccer Drops to Washington & Jefferson

Unionville, PA - On Saturday, Sept. 4, the Penn State Beaver men's soccer team dropped to 0-2 overall when they were defeated by the Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, PA) Presidents, 8-0.
W & J tallied its first goal in the 6-minute mark of the first half when they tapped in a redrooted cross.
In minute 17, Andrew Reda (Blackhawk High School/Beaver Falls, PA) blocked a half volley to keep the score at 1-0, and Beaver kept fighting, but the Presidents took control of the game, scoring 3 additional goals for a 4-0 advantage. In the second half, W & J tacked on 4 more goals for the win.
Beaver freshman goalie Ryan Lagnese (West Allegheny High School, Coraopolis, PA) had 18 saves, and the team tripled its shots on goal in the second half.
The Lions resume play at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8 when they travel to take on the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (Greensburg, PA).
