Beaver Defeats York in Double OT
By Noelle Miloszewski
York, PA - On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Penn State Beaver men's soccer team recorded a 1-0 win over Penn State York, last year's PSUAC champions.
For the first 90 minutes of the game, neither Beaver nor York scored, taking the game into overtime. However, one overtime wasn't enough.
In a second overtime, the game remained scoreless with 30 seconds to go, until Beaver's Matt Doerr (Slippery Rock High School/Slippery Rock, PA) drew a penalty kick, and Tyler Blake (Moon High School/Crescent Township, PA) sunk it for the win.
Blake is this week's USCAA Player of the Week, and with the game-winning goal, now leads the conference with twelve. With the win, Beaver is in second place, trailing Penn State New Kensington in the conference.
Beaver is 4-5 overall and 4-1 in the PSUAC. On Monday, Sept. 27, the team travels to Beaver Falls, PA to take on the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College at 7 p.m.
