Beaver Finishes Weekend 2-0
By Noelle Miloszewski
Green Valley Park, Rochester, PA - In its second game of the weekend, Beaver defeated Penn State Schuylkill (Schuylkill Haven, PA) 5-1.
The first goal of the game was netted by Freshman Tyler Blake (Moon/Moon Twp, PA) at the 8 minute mark.
Blake then made an assist that allowed Freshman Isaac Houston (West Shamokin/West Shamokin, PA) to score, lifting Beaver 2-0 over the competition at the 15 minute mark.
Schuylkill's defense clearly could not handle the Beaver offense, and Houston again scored off of an assist from Sophomore Todd Long (Kane/Kane, PA.) Long then netted a goal of his own, with no assistance, which ended the half 4-0 in Beaver's favor.
In the second half, Schuylkill managed to score despite a tough defensive effort from the Lions.
However, Beaver outplayed Schuylkill both defensively and offensively, out-shooting its competition 21-6. After Schuylkill's goal, Houston returned the favor by scoring yet another goal which capped the game off at 5-1 and gave Houston the hat trick for the game.
With the win, the Lions bump to 3-3 and 3-0 in the PSUAC. Their next game is an away match at Penn State Brandywine. The date is set for Saturday, September 19th at 1pm.
