Green Valley Park, Rochester, PA - On Sunday, Sept. 6 the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg traveled to Rochester to defeat the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions soccer team, 2-0.
The first half ended at 0-0, largely due to Beaver's keeper, sophomore Kevin Conley (Beaver High School, Beaver, PA), who made a kick save. Sophomore Corbin Rogers (Perry Traditional High School, Pittsburgh, PA) had an early scoring opportunity, but the Bobcats defense stopped the Beaver threat.
However, in the second half, Pitt-Greensburg took control. In the 64th minute of the game, the Bobcats scored on a breakaway goal despite Conley's valiant diving attempt. The Bobcats tallied another goal which Conley saved, but was ruled as over the goal line.
With the loss, the Lions are 1-0 in the PSUAC and 1-2 overall. At 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, the Raiders of Mount Union College (Alliance, OH) will host the Nittany Lions.
