Lions Drop to Wildcats in Double OT
By Noelle Miloszewski
Williamsport, PA - Beaver traveled to Williamsport to face its toughest conference competitor, the Penn College Wildcats.
Before the game began, the Lions stood at 6-1-1 in conference play, while the Wildcats held a slight advantage with just one less loss (6-0-1). With the win, Beaver would inch up to number one in the PSUAC.
The action began when Penn College scored at the 32nd minute mark. Shortly after, Freshman Tyler Blake (Moon/Moon, PA) retaliated with a penalty shot that put Beaver on the board and tied the game, 1-1. Just seven minutes later, the Wildcats scored again.
However, Penn College's advantage would not last for long, as Freshman Brandon Landry (Hopewell/Aliquippa, PA) laid out an assist that allowed Blake to score again at the 58th minute mark. The game would remain tied (2-2) for nearly 50 minutes. Although Penn College did get shots off, Sophomore keeper Kevin Conley (Beaver/Beaver, PA) - who had 14 saves - would not allow the ball to get past him.
Unfortunately, with just under five minutes left in double overtime, Penn College netted a goal that ended the game (3-2).
The Lions are now 6-2-1 in the PSUAC and 6-7-1 overall. On Thursday, Oct. 15th, Beaver travels to Cressen, PA to take on Mount Aloysius at 4 p.m.
