By Alonna Verrico
On Sunday, Sept. 7 the Mount Union College Raiders defeated the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions soccer team, 3-0, at Beaver in a non-conference match.
Beaver sophomore Cameron Fertenbaugh (Cumberland Valley High School) made a save but the Raiders took the lead. Lions freshman Todd Long (Kane High School) tried to score but couldn't convert against the Raiders solid defense. In the second half, Mount Union scored two goals for the win.
"We played a good game today, the best we've played this year," said Head Coach Bob Dawson. "We were very solid on defense, but we couldn't get a solid attack going. The team continues to improve with each game as we gear up for conference play."
Beaver is 1-1 in the PSUAC and 1-3 overall. The Lions return to action at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 when they take on conference foe Penn State Brandywine at Hardy Field, Brighton Township.
