By Alonna Verrico
On Tuesday, Sept. 16 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions soccer team traveled to the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg where they were defeated by the Panthers, 2-0, in a non-conference match.
Beaver showed great intensity until the 44th and 45th minutes when Pitt scored back-to-back goals in one minute, putting the score at 2-0 going into the half. In the second half Beaver prevented Pitt from scoring again, but couldn't move ahead of the Panthers for the remainder of the game.
In the loss, the Lions showed an improved offense with seven shots on goal. Defensively, sophomore Cameron Fertenbaugh (Camphill, PA) faced ten shots on goal, saving eight and allowing two shots to pass him.
Beaver is 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Lions return to PSUAC action when they travel to Penn State Schuylkill for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Sept. 20.
