Big Win for Beaver during Tip-Off Tournament
The Men's Basketball team battled for a win against Miami Hamilton to win in exciting 64-60 game.
Monaca, PA - This year's USCAA Tip-Off Tournament had pushed Beaver forward with a win making them .500 on the season through 2 games this season. This marks the first win of the season for theLions with a nail biting 64-60 victory. Within the first half of the game the Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball team 34 points to Miami Hamilton's 28 points. With Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) scoring the first points off of a three-point shot within the first minute the Lions were off to a hot start Knaff followed that up with a second three-point shot taking the Lions up 6-3. Fourth-year Matt Brown (Upland, CA) helped get Beaver up to 8 and take a 5 point lead 5 minutes into the game. Beaver had the lead until the final 6 minutes of the first half which was the 1st time that Miami Hamilton took the lead this game. With a minute and a half left in the game Beaver took their final push for the lead and finished the first hald up 34-28. Beaver continued to push through the second half and hold a strong lead until the final five and a half minutes were Miami Hamilton took only their second lead of the game. Fourth-year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) scored the first point of the second half witha layup which he followed up by a three-point shot. Fourth-year, Matt Brown (Upland, CA) scored the final points of the game off of 2 free throws finalizing the teams win allowing the team a nice 4 point victory.
Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) played a strong game scoring 14 points, having 3 rebounds, 1 assistm and 1 steal. Along with that Fourth-year Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) scored 13 points, had 3 rebounds, 4 assist, and 2 steals. Fourth-year Matt Brown (Upland, CA) played tough with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Third-year player, Jalen Vaughn (Beaver Falls, PA) scored 9 points and Second-Year player Alex Green (Chicago, IL) had 5 rebounds which lead the team.
Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball is now 1-1 overall as they come off a tough season last year.
