Competitive Game Leads to Loss for Penn State Beaver

Monaca, PA- The Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball team returned home for senior day against PSUAC Confernece match up Penn State New Kensington. Fourth year, Nathan Coonfare (Ellwood City, PA) was recognized for his contribution to the team academically and athletically. A tough game lead to the loss for Beaver with a final score of 89-62.

The game started off with back and forth play and both teams playing strong defense with no points being scored for a few minutes of the game. To start the scoring for Beaver was Second year, Josh McCloud (Houston,TX) with a made layup. Following that play right up with another made layup was Fourth year, Nathan Coonfare (Ellwood City, PA) assisted by First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL). Penn State New Kensington followed that play with a made jump shot but Beaver got that right back with a made jump shot by Fourth year, Christopher Green (Washington, DC). Penn State New Kensington made back to back plays before Beavers Fourth year, Christopher Green (Washington, DC) hit a clutch 3 pointer jump shot. Back and forth play continued the rest of the first half heading into halftime with a score of 40-23 Penn State New Kensington. 

Coming out of halftime Beaver strikes first, Fourth year, Christopher Green (Washington, DC) with a made jump shot. Following that play again was Fourth year, Christopher Green (Washington, DC) was fouled and took at advantage of the free throws making both. First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) hits a huge 3 pointer to bring Beaver back into the game. Penn State New Kensington went on a scoring run which led to a Beaver timeout. Coming out of the timeout Second year, Josh McCloud (Houston,TX) added to Beavers score with a made free throw. Penn State New Kensington gained momentum but late in the game Second year, Jaylin Houlder (Bronx, NY) made a 3 pointer jump shot. Right after that was a jump shot made by First year, Nick Gjergji (Yorktown, NY). The game continued and ended with a final score of 89-62.

Leading scorer and player of the game was Fourth year, Christopher Green (Washington, DC) with 21 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. Also adding to the stats sheet was Fourth year, Nathan Coonfare (Ellwood City, PA) with 12 points and 6 rebounds. First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) had 8 points, 2 steals, 1 assist, and 4 rebounds.
