Non-Conference continues to be tough for Beaver
New Philadelphia, OH - After splitting the weekend with a loss and a win in conference play, Beaver was on the road for a non-conference match-up against Kent State Tuscarawas. This non-conference match-up proved to be tough for the lions after coming home with a 96-77 loss to the Golden Eagles. The Lions were off to a great start keeping up with the Golden Eagles and even bringing the game to a tie with 7 minutes left in the first half. However, after the Golden Eagles went on a 16-3 run, Beaver fell behind and the half ended in the Golden Eagles favor with the score at 46-35. Beaver was able to begin the second half strong and close the Golden Eagles lead to just 4 points, but it would not be enough to win the game. The Golden Eagles went on a 23-8 run, which put Beaver far behind in the game. Beaver traveled home with a 96-77 loss to enter conference paly once again.
Second year Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) was the top scorer for the Lions tonight finishing with 22 points. McCloud also managed to get 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Fourth year Chris Green (Washington, D.C.) was also a big contributor finishing with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Second year Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) and first year Alex Green (Chicago, IL) both put up 10 points for the Lions tonight. Alex Green also finished with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Gayle finished with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Third year Matt Brown (Upland, CA) finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
The Lions will be back at home for another conference match-up weekend. For the first game. the Lions will be taking on Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Friday December 8th. The game begins at 8pm EST so be sure to come out and show your support, or catch the game live on the Rise and Roar Network!
