Lions Defeat Mont Alto After Tough Start to Conference Play
Lions split the weekend with a loss and much needed win after losing two conference games in a row
Mont Alto, PA - After a long weekend of basketball, Beaver comes home with a split after beating Penn State Mont Alto, 75-67. A tough first half gave Beaver everything they needed, after going into half time down by 4, the Lions outscored Mont Alto by 12 to win by 8. Beaver was able to score 31 in the first half trailing Mont Alto's 35, but came back to score an impressive 44 points to take over the lead while Mont Alto only scored 32. This is an impressive victory for the Men's Basketball team as they have a long history with Mont Alto where they find their first victory in 4 years. Beaver has played 5 tough PSUAC so far in conference and have proved they are here to play.
Leading the team was 2nd-year, Josh McCloud (Jouston, TX), who scored 22 points, had 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals. Also a huge contributor for Beaver was 2nd-year, Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) who score 12 points, had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Also a big scorer for Beaver was 3rd-year, Matt Brown (Upland, CA) who scored 14 points, with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. 4th-year, Chris Green (Washington DC) score 10 for Beaver, along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and a block. Beaver went 18-26 from the free throw line which was a 69.2% rate, along with 25-45 feild goal shots made which is over 55%.
Beaver now sits witha record of 3-5 overall with a 2-3 conference record. They will play their next game on Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm when they travel to take on Kent State Tuscarawas in a tough USCAA match-up.
