Beaver Loses on the Road Against New Kensington
New Kensington, PA - The Men's Basketball team was back on the road tonight taking on Penn State New Kensington. Beaver went into this game after a big win against Penn State DuBois.
The first half of the game was off to a slow start. Beaver let New Kensington get a quick lead over them. Both teams did not score much for most of the first half. Beaver was able to close the gap and take a lead over New Kensington with 8 minutes left in the half. With just a minute remaining, Beaver was up by 9 points. They closed the first half of the game 29-21, after having a slow start to the game.
The second half of the game became very competitive. Beaver held onto a lead over New Kensington, until New Kensington was able to close the gap and get ahead of Beaver with 12 and a half minutes remaining. They got a quick five point lead over Beaver, but Beaver did not let up and kept the gam close. New Kensington continued to push and got heir lead back wing up by 8 points with 6 minutes remaining. They then extended their lead by 13 points in just one minute. Beaver closed the gap to just 3 points with 2 minutes remaining. However, it was not enough. New Kensington was able to score just enough points to put Beaver out of the game. New Kensington closed out the game with a 59-52 win over Beaver.
Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) lead the way for Beaver in their attempts to beat New Kensington finishing with 24 points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds. Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) finished with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal.
Beaver will be back in action on Saturday, February 18 for another PSUAC Match-up against Penn State Fayette, and the last home game of the year. Tip off begins at 3pm EST.
