Beaver Gains Third Conference Win of the Season Defeating Shenango 71-80
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball has had a tough season so far. They sat 2-10 in the conference before the game tonight. The first time Beaver saw Shenango they lost by one point. Beaver was looking to capture a win in this rematch.
Beaver started off the first half strong scoring the first bucket of the game just 20 seconds into the half. This did not last long, as Shenango was able to take a quick lead over Beaver and gain an 11 point lead with just under 13 minutes remaining. Shenango held onto a lead for much of the half, but Beaver was able to close the gap and tie up the game with five and a half minutes remaining. Beaver was able to not only close the gap, they also took the lead for the remaining of the first half and the score sat 34-37 in Beaver's favor.
The second half began with Shenango tying the game. Beaver was able to gain a 7 point lead just a few minutes into the half. They were able to hang onto a lead, but Shenango was closing the gap quick. Beaver was able to extend the gap to double digits at the half point mark of the second half. Shenango responded quickly and continued to cut the gap. Beaver did not let up on their lead, and finished the game strong defeating shenango 80-71.
Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) finished with another double-double having 24 points and 17 rebounds. Dickerson also finished with 1 block and 2 steals. Sophomore Chris Green (Washington, DC) was also a key player in he win having24 points, 3 steals, and 6 rebounds. Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) also put up big numbers having 20 points, 1 block, 4 steals, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds.
