New Wilmington, PA -- Beaver Men fall to Thiel in day one of the Westminster Tournament.
Beaver fell behind right from the start and spent the first half battling from behind. They were able to reel the game in to within two severl times in the first half and narrowed the Tomcats lead to just one on a William Philpot free throw with 3:50 left in the first half (24-25). The men then struggled offensively while Thiel seemingly scored with ease at the end of the half, leaving Beaver down 33-25 at halftime.
Almost halfway through the second half Thiel had expanded their lead to 25 points as Beaver struggled to slow them down. They played from behind for the remainder of the game and fell by a final score of 71-52.
Leading the scoring efforts for Beaver was John Foster with 16 points. He was followed by Dominique Stevenson and Bryce Strati who each had 7 in the game. The team returns to action tomorrow, for day two of the tournament, when they face the host team, Westminster College at 4:00 p.m.
