Beaver loses a heartbreaker to Kent State Tuscarawas
Penn State Beaver loses a fast-paced thriller to Kent State Tuscarawas 93-90
By Evan Pinchot:
Returning back to their home count after coming off their second loss in a two game losing streak, the Penn State Beaver Lions will be looking to get a big win tonight in front of a friendly crowd. Going up against Kent State Tuscarawas, the Lions should fight to make sure that the Spirit Night crowd full of students and recruits sees just what they can do by winning tonight. However, going up against an impressive 12-4 Kent State Tuscarawas team looks to be quite the challange.
The game started off with a bang as Kent State's Aaron Casey scores immediately off of the tip. This is how the game went as both teams went back and forth for a while in the first half. Even though the two teams batlled back and forth, Kent State was able to scratch out a 15 point lead, their largest of the game, late in the second half. As the first half drew to a close Kent State was up 50-39. The score could've have looked a lot worse for Beaver in the first half if they weren't lead by a great preformance from Ignacio Alleyne (Stafford, VA / Colonial Forge).
The Lions came out in the seond half looking to play a little catch up with Kent State, and within five minutes they had gotten themselves the lead back. From here on out it was back to the two teams fighting it out, with each team staying within striking distance all the way to the end. With a great preformance that inluded the leadership and clutch shots of Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh PA, Penn Hills), the Lions were able to stay in this fast-paced game all the way down to the last minute. However, Kent State proved to be too much for the Lions as they heartbreakingly fall by a score of 93-90.
The Lions were lead in this game by Lamont Wright with 34 points while two other players, Ignacio Alleyne and G.J. Boykin (Aliquippa PA, Aliquippa), came up big with double-doubles. Now sitting at 6-10 overall and staying at 4-4 in the conference, the lions next game will be at Penn State New Kensington at 7 p.m.
