Beaver fall to PSU Greater Allegheny 98-66

McKeesport, PA - Beaver fall to Penn State Greater Allegheny Friday night, 98-66.
Beaver opened the game with a slow start falling behind 4 points within the first 2 minutes of the game. Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/ Perry) put the first points up of the game for Beaver, scoring a 3 point jumpshot at the 18:14 mark. Beaver took a lead at the 14:34 mark (16-5). Smith furthered it gaining 2 more points on a layup (18-15). The Lions held the lead for a few minutes before Greater Allegheny's offense started to shine on the court.
Eric Gallupe (Sewickley, PA/ Avonworth) tied the game at the 9:33 mark (25-25) but that didn't last long before GA made their offensive comeback, retaking the lead once again. Winding down to the end of the first half, it was a battle of the offenses. Scoring back to back, each team was neck and neck trying to take the lead off of one another. But it was Greater Allegheny who were victorious walking off into halftime ahead of Beaver by 5 points (43-38).
To open the second half, Beaver were quick on their feet with Gallupe gaining 2 points on the board for Beaver (43-40). The second half showed Greater Allegheny's strong defense, all together they scored 55 points in total against Beaver in the second half. Beaber fought back faithfully with key points from Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, PA/ Penn Hills) but it wasn't enough in the end to catch up to GA with an end result of 98-66 for the final score going to the Lions of Greater Allegheny.
Leading the Lions offensively was Wright with 19 points on the night. Following him respectively was Smith with 12 points.
Beaver finish 2015 out 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the PSUAC. The return back to action Friday, January 15th to take on Penn State New Kensington at 7 p.m.
