Penn State Beaver Falls Short To Penn State Fayette
Beaver loses 100-92

Monaca, PA--- Today Penn State Beaver opened PSUAC play against Penn State Fayette. Fayette went on a 7-2 run in the first couple minutes of the game before Beaver went on thier own 4-0 run to tie the game up at 8-8. Beaver and Fayette would trade points the whole first half until the last 6 minutes when Fayette would go up by 18 points. Beaver trailed Fayette by 15 at half-time (53-38).
In the second half Beaver started pressuring more and getting steals and turning them into transition points. Beaver, with the momentum, would cut the lead down from 18 points to 6 points. With 4 minutes left in the game and the score 86-80 Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) got a steal and got fouled which was an and-one, Smith would go to make the free throw and only be down 86-83 with 4 minutes and fiften seconds left. Fayettte would go on to keep scoring but Beaver didn't stop there. Freshman forward Willie James (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse) scored 7 consecutive points to keep Beaver alive with the score being 95-92, but it wasnt enough to win the game as Fayette would score 5 more points to gurantee the win at 100-92.
Tonight's top performers were junior guard Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh,PA/Perry) with 25 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, Willie James (Pittsburgh,PA/Westinghouse) had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and senior forward Tiere Phillips (Pittsburgh,PA/Penn Hills) with 11 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Beaver is now 0-1 in conference play and looks to better their record December 6th at 5 p.m. against Penn State Lehigh Valley.
