Monaca, Pa--- Penn State Beaver hosted it's first home game of the season against Point Park University, and fell short down the stretch 108-92.
In the first half Penn State Beaver played their best half of basketball all season. Beaver went on a 12-0 run and played very well on the defensive end forcing Point Park to commit 10 turnovers. Beaver went into the half leading 52-48. In the second half Beaver kept the lead for the majority of the second half but Point Park found their flow and came back to take the lead with 6 minutes left in the game and didnt look back as they continued to be effective on the offensive end.
Beaver was led by Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa/Perry) with 24 points, followed by Lamont Wright (Pittsburgh, Pa/Penn Hills) with 18 points, also Christian James (Fredrick, MD/Fredrick) added 18 points and 14 rebounds, the x-factor today was Dj Austin (East Liverpool, OH/East Liverpool) who set the tone offensively and defensively for Beaver in the first half, and ended his night with 15 points.
Beaver's next game is November 29th against Case Western Reserve in the Carnagie Mellon University Tournament.
