Penn State Beaver Loses Season Opener to Point Park University
Penn State Beaver lost to Point Park 111-87.
West Mifflin, Pa--- Penn State Beaver lost their first road game of the 14-15 season against Point Park University.
Penn State Beaver came out flat in the first half, falling to an early 15-4 defecit in the first five minutes of the game. Beaver commited alot of fouls in the first half sending Point Park to the foul line many times in the first half. Point Park shot 25 total free throws making 19 of them in the half. Beaver was trailing Point Park 60-31 at halftime.
In the second half Beaver picked up the momentum from freshman Christian James (Fredrick, MD/Fredrick) and freshman Willie James (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse). In the half Beaver played much better out scoring Point Park 56-51 but it just wasn't enough to make the game close.
Beaver shot 11% from the 3 point line in the first half and then turned around and shot 80% from the 3 point line in the second half. Beaver only had 7 team fouls in the second half opposed to having 16 in the first half. Beaver's second half was a 360 degree turn around from the first half.
Beaver was lead in scoring by Christian James with 27 points, Lamont Wright with 18 points (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills), Marcus Smith with 16 points (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) and Willie James with 13 points (Pittsburgh, PA/Westinghouse).
Beaver's next game is against Thiel on November 15th at 6:00 p.m. when they travel to the Westminster Tip-Off Tournament.
