Weather's Sparks Lions to Victory
Senior Chris Weathers scored 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as Beaver defeated Wilkes-Barre 83-70.
Monaca, PA- Senior Chris Weathers (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) had one of his best games of the season, scoring 27 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in the victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
By the ten minute mark in the first half, Beaver built a 10 point lead which they carried into half-time (42-32). With ten minutes to play in the game, Beaver pushed the lead to 20 (68-48). Wilkes-Barre did not go quitely though, going on a 14-4 run in the next three minutes to pull within 10. In the final minutes, Wilkes-Barre cut the lead to 9 twice, but that was as close as they got as Beaver went on to win 83-70.
Sophomore Rob Agurs (Penn Hills/Pittsburgh, PA) added 21 points in the win, while Senior Nick Miller (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) had 16 points and 5 assists.
With the victory, Beaver now sits at 17-6 overall, and 12-3 in the PSUAC. The Lions will wrap up the season this Friday and Saturday, when they host Penn State Hazleton and Scranton. Tip off on Friday is set for 8PM. The men have clinched a spot in next week's PSUAC playoffs, but are playing for seeding and home court advantage.
