Nittany Lions lose to the Point Park University Pioneers

West Mifflin, PA- Penn State Beaver's Nittany Lions lose to the Point Park University Pioneers, in Beaver's first game of the season.
Throughout the game both the Lions and Pioneers went back and forth with the score and kept it close. In the first half, the Pioneers came out strong, driving the ball down the court and scoring when they could. The Lions weren't ready to give up and their momentum built at around the 8:03 mark when the score was 26-27, giving the Pioneers only a one point lead.
For the remainder of the half, the score remained within a 2 point lead and the score went back and forth. The final score at the end first was 40-42, Pioneers.
Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) and Chris Weathers (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) both led the team offensively in the first driving the ball to the hoop and putting points on the board.
In the second half, both teams had great control of the ball and kept the score still relatively close, that was until Weathers made a dunk at the 11:54, giving the Lions the first lead of the game. The Lions remained in the lead for the next 6 minutes with Markes Royster (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills), Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills), and Weathers all scoring points.
The Lions lost the lead when the Pioneers, Gabe McNeal scored a 3-point jump shot tying it up at 73-73. The tides began to turn in the Pioneers favor and they scored point after point only losing the lead a few times up to the end.
The final score was 89-95, Pioneers, which is a very close game being that the Pioneers already had 5 games under their belt for this season and compete at the Division II level of the NAIA.
The Lions take on St. Vincent College this Friday, November 15th during the La Roche College Tournament.
