Uniontown, PA---- Penn State Beaver defeated Central Penn on Thursday night by a score of 92-89 in overtime to win their opening game of the 2013 USCAA National Tournament. The game was close throughout as Central Penn led 45-43 at the half and Beaver won the second twenty minutes 35-33 to send the game into overtime. In the overtime period, the game was tied 89-89 until Beaver's Pat Horton (Farrell, Farrell) hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Lions the win.
In the contest for Beaver, Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) scored a game-high 25 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Chris Weathers (New Brighton, New Brighton) added 23 points and 6 rebounds while Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Horton scored 11 points to give Beaver four scorers in double figures and senior Julian Taylor (Rochester, Rochester) grabbed 11 rebounds for Beaver in the win.
Beaver will advance in the national tournament and will play tomorrow evening at 5pm against Warren Wilson College.
