Monaca, PA--- Penn State Beaver lost by 1 to Penn State York on Sunday as York claimed the 2012-2013 PSUAC Title. Beaver went down early as York started the game strong and they would lead by as many as 16 in the first half. Beaver would battle back and cut the deficit to 9 as they entered halftime. The game was back and forth as York still had the lead by 11, 60-49, with around 9 minutes to go. Beaver went on a 9-0 run to cut it to 2 and Beaver would even take a two point lead with around 6 minutes left. The game was tied at 71 and it was 79-74 before Mike Martin (Dublin OH, Dublin Jerome) hit a three to make it 79-77 with 55 seconds left. After a defensive stop, Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) would hit 2 free throws and the game was tied at 79. A foul with 1.3 seconds left would send York to the line and they would hit one of two free throws to take the championship game by 1 point.
Agurs finished with 26 points on 8-12 shooting and also had 8 rebounds. Chris Weathers (New Brighton, New Brighton) scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) scored 17 points.
Beaver will next travel to PSU Fayette for the USCAA national tournament starting next week.
