Beaver Finishes 2012 With 8th Straight Win
Lions drop Thiel 63-60
Monaca, PA--- Beaver capped off a perfect December, going 7-0 in the final month of the calendar year by defeating Thiel College 63-60 on New Year's Eve. Thiel led in the opening minutes as they jumped out to a 8-0 lead but Beaver took back the lead 12-10 around the 15:00 minute mark of the first half. Beaver led by as many as 8 in the first half but Thiel cut it to 1 before Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) hit a three with just a few seconds remaining to give Beaver the 4 point lead at the half.
Thiel took a lead early in the second half and led for the majority of the second 20 minutes. Beaver answered by regaining the lead at the 4:48 mark and would be able to hang onto the lead for the victory. Thiel trailed by only 3 with 9 seconds left and had a 3 point attempt fall short giving Beaver the 63-60 win.
Beaver was led offensively by Miller, who finished with 20 points while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) scored 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Markes Royster (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Beaver shot 44% from the field compared to Thiel's 41% and had 11 turnovers to Thiel's 16.
Beaver is now 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the PSUAC and will play again on Thursday when they travel to Grove City College to play at 8pm.
